Part-time / PRN | Field-based | Per-visit pay plus mileage

Are you an RN who has retired from full-time nursing but still holds an active license? This flexible role offers the opportunity to work directly with older adults and their families through scheduled home visits. We also welcome applications from other RNs seeking part-time work.

Home Instead is hiring multiple nurses to conduct initial care consults and quality assurance follow-up visits in the Charleston area.

We are hiring for two service areas:

• East Cooper: Mount Pleasant, Isle of Palms, Sullivan’s Island, and Daniel Island
• Charleston and the islands: West Ashley, downtown Charleston, James Island, Johns Island, Kiawah Island, and Seabrook Island

We hope to hire nurses who live near the communities they serve. Please tell us which service area you prefer.

What you’ll do

• Meet with prospective clients and families in their homes for scheduled care consults.
• Assess daily living needs, home safety considerations, and the family’s goals for care.
• Explain our non-medical home care services and answer questions.
• Complete enrollment documents and an individualized care plan when a family chooses to begin care.
• Conduct scheduled quality assurance visits with existing clients and identify any changes in their needs.
• Document visits promptly and communicate findings to our Client Care team.

Our intake specialist handles the initial inquiry and arranges care consults. We contact nurses about their availability before assigning visits. Visits depend on client demand, so a set number of visits is not guaranteed.

Schedule

This is a flexible PRN position with weekday and some weekend availability. Visits are scheduled within your assigned service area; there is no overnight on-call rotation.

Compensation

• $100 for a completed initial care consult, assessment, care plan, and documentation, whether or not the family enrolls
• $50 bonus when a client signs and completes their first billable shift
• $50 bonus if that client remains active 30 days after their first shift
• $75 for a completed quality assurance visit and documentation
• Additional $25 for a Saturday or Sunday visit
• Approved business mileage reimbursed at $0.50 per mile

Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted South Carolina RN license
• Strong assessment, communication, and documentation skills
• Experience in home care, home health, hospice, geriatrics, or community nursing preferred
• Comfortable discussing care options with families in a supportive, straightforward manner
• Reliable transportation and willingness to travel within your selected service area
• Ability to use electronic systems to document visits and communicate with the office
